Kecskemétfilm Ltd.

Kecskemétfilm Ltd. is an animation film studio which has been in continuous operation since 1971, making it the oldest such studio in the region. In addition to the development, production, and distribution of original short, TV series, spots, and educational films, we also undertake animation projects for foreign studios, working together with a highly trained and experienced local staff of more than 50 people. Softwares in use: TVPaint and Toon Boom Harmony Over the course of 50 years, we have been given numerous international awards and acknowledgments, and we have made nearly 500 films. The best-known and longest running film series of the studio is the “Hungarian Folk Tales” series (www.magyarnepmesek.eu), which consists of 100 episodes. In addition to the original works, we have participated in the making of numerous international productions, three of which were later nominated for an Oscar: The Secret of Kells (directed by Tomm Moore, Nora Twomey), Chico and Rita (directed by Fernando Trueba, Javier Mariscal, Tono Errando), and The Red Turtle (directed by Michaël Dudok de Wit). In 2008, we extended our portfolio and started our 3D workshop. Our small creative team always strives to craft an unique, arresting visual world when making both original films and film series. The goal is not to mimic current trends, but rather to experiment with unusual imagery and create distinctive moods. Our works are boldly innovative but also build on tradition. Kecskemétfilm is also the founder and principal organiser of the international Kecskemét Animation Film Festival (KAFF) which has been held since 1985 (www.kaff.hu).
