Hunimation Hits the Streets

Date: June 7-14, 0-24

Location: Streets of Annecy town Centre, Bonlieu, Lafayette

For the duration of the Annecy Film Festival, Hungarian animation artists have created 23 unique installations forming an open-air exhibition that celebrates key moments from the history of Hungarian animated film.

This city-wide exhibition was made possible through the efforts of a diverse creative team, in collaboration with the Hungarian Association of Animation Artists (AA1). The artists carefully designed each piece in dialogue with Annecy’s urban landscape, placing the installations along the river and throughout the town. Many of the featured characters were adapted to this special scale and setting with the direct involvement of the films’ original directors.

Beyond the animation community, the project was enriched by contributions from the MAIII product design team, sculptor Tamás Ordódi, and architect Márton Nyirán.

Festival-goers can explore the artworks freely while walking around the city. Each piece includes a QR code that offers more information about the films, their creators, and their historical context.

We hope you’ll have the chance to visit them all — if you get lost, just use the map below!
