Hungarian animation triumphs at the 14th Friss Hús

Zsuzsanna Kreif’s Adgwa-Ata won Best Hungarian Animated Film – and an Oscar qualification – at the 14th Friss Hús Budapest International Short Film Festival.

On Wednesday afternoon, the awards of the 14th Friss Hús Budapest International Short Film Festival were presented at Puskin Cinema.

The Best Hungarian Animated Film award went to Zsuzsanna Kreif’s Adgwa-Ata, which also earned an Oscar qualification. According to the jury, the film creates an entirely new universe through its original vision, distinctive visual world and unique female perspective.

Adgwa-Ata‘s next stop is the prestigious Festival international du film d’animation d’Annecy.

The main prize of the 12th Friss Pitch forum, the Nándor Lovas Award, was won by Flóra Chilton’s animated documentary project Toldi Girls. The project is being realised in cooperation between the Igazgyöngy Foundation and the Északi Támpont Association, with Cinemon Entertainment supporting the production as professional partner and producer.

This year, the Mihály Morell Award of the Hungarian Society of Film and Video Editors was presented for the first time for best short film editing. The recognition went to Judit Czakó for editing Anna Katalin Lovrity’s animated film Lemon and Marble.
