Hunimation 2026: Bold Voices, Fearless Visions of Hungarian animation
Five new projects represent Hungary at Annecy’s MIFA Hungarian Partner Pitch on 25 June — two series and three distinctive shorts.
Five exciting Hungarian animation projects will be presented at Annecy: two original series and three distinctive shorts. Pirate adventure, surreal sci-fi, personal stories and playful visual worlds — the projects reflect the diversity and creative strength of a new generation of Hungarian animation.
The Hunimation Partner Pitch will take place
on Thursday, 25 June 2026, from 14:45 to 16:00
in the Berlioz Room of the Imperial Palace at the Annecy festival.
The final of the 2nd Hunimation – Hungarian Animation Pitching Forum was held on 27 March at Toldi Cinema in Budapest, with the support of HAPA, Friss Hús Budapest and the National Film Institute Hungary. The forum aims to help outstanding Hungarian animation projects step onto the international stage.
Eleven projects took part in the Budapest final, five of which were selected for the MIFA Partner Pitch in Annecy:
Júlia Farkas / Zita Vadász – Abracadabra
Eszter Molnár – Paradise Island
Adél Szegedi – Sun in Retrograde
Csaba Klement – Natures Creatures Nature
Fábián Balogh – Half Open, Half Pose
Alongside the professional jury, the audience award went to Fábián Balogh project. In addition, Anna Katalin Lovrity (Rosie and Sapphire) was invited to the CEE Animation MIFA pitch programme, and Balázs Turai (Killin’ it) to the Annecy Pitch.
