The Kidnapping of the Sun and the Moon
Original Title: A Nap és a Hold elrablása
Released: 1968
A huge, fire-breathing dragon destroys the idyllic coexistence between man and nature. The seven-headed dark monster, having burnt to the ground the palaces built by man, swallows the heavenly bodies and thus the world is plunged into darkness. Nature’s creatures also begin to waste away. Into this world of darkness rides a noble horseman who, mounted on his magical steed, tracks down the monster, cuts off its seven heads, thus allowing the heavenly bodies to return to their rightful orbits. Nature springs back to life. The dramatic, euphoric-toned short was based on the identically-titled poem of Ferenc Juhász inspired by folk tales and published in 1952.
